Butler County Government Day 2015
On Tuesday, October the 18th, Mr. Casteel's senior American Government class attended the 2015 Butler County Government Day. Government Day is sponsored and held by the American Legion Posts of Butler County. The field trip began with a Flag Etiquette Assembly held in the Old ElDorado Middle School auditorium. Following the assembly, the seniors walked to the Butler County Courthouse and received a tour of all the facilities there, and the various offices found within the local government structure. Students even had the opportunity the sit-in on a County Commissioner's Meeting that was held on Tuesday, the 18th. The tour also included a presentation by the Butler County Sheriffs', Fire, and EMT services, which included demonstrations of the various tools used by each department. Students were also allowed to inspect ambulances, fire trucks, and SWAT vehicles. The field trip concluded with a luncheon held at the ElDorado 4H Building which was also provided by the American Legion Posts of Butler County.
